摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a fuel consumption and reduce an NOx by enlarging a compression self ignition combustion operation area to the high load side and the high rotation side while avoiding a knocking and an unstable combustion. SOLUTION: The combustion control device is provided with a direct injection type fuel injection device 8. Two times of fuel injection including a fuel injection during compression stroke (second fuel injection) and a fuel injection completed before the second fuel injection (first fuel injection) are carried out at one cycle. A combustion of first stage is carried out by spark igniting a flame to a mixture gas produced by the second fuel injection by an ignition plug 9 and a second combustion is carried out by a compression self ignition of the mixture gas at the circumference by a temperature/pressure raising in a combustion chamber caused by the combustion of first stage. In this case, first and second fuel injection timing, ignition timing, first and second injection amount ration and an EGR rate are controlled corresponding to an engine rotation speed and load in order to control a starting timing of the combustion of second stage corresponding to the engine rotation speed and the load.
