Method for operating a magnetic resonance device has the following steps: a pre-determined event that will trigger neuronal activity in a patient or examination area, especially the brain, is initiated and the effect of the trigger on the examination area is monitored. When a positive result of the trigger results an image data set is recorded. The invention also relates to a corresponding magnetic resonance device.
