The invention relates essentially to a method used to test and monitor threads, wherein methods of prgram classes involved in thread handling are extended to include event tracers transmitting parameters to a test and monitoring tool during the execution of the program to be monitored. This represents a cost-effective, flexible solution and requires no modification of the underlying virtual machine.
