The take down rifle (1) has a stock (40), a forepiece (30) and a barrel (20). The barrel is releasably connected with the stock. The forepiece is releasably connected to the stock by a catch. The catch has a spring loaded detent piston which is released by an actuator. The piston drive the locking balls into the locking position.
