PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alloy for wire of a wire brush for polishing with which excellent appearance can be held without deteriorating corrosion resistance in the polished (ground) part of high-corrosion-resistant stainless steel, a wire brush composed of the wire and a method for polishing stainless steel using the wire brush. SOLUTION: When polishing stainless steel which contains, by mass, 5 to 40% Ni, 18 to 28% Cr, 2 to 11% Mo and≤0.3% N and has PRE≥35 defined by equation PRE=mass%Cr+3.3×mass%Mo+20×mass%N, polishing (grinding) is done using the wire brush constituted of the wire composed of an alloy which consists of, by mass, 18 to 40% Ni, 18 to 28% Cr, 2 to 11% Mo,≤0.3% N and the balance essentially Fe and has PRE≥0.90 times that of the stainless steel.
