Devices for dewatering pulp suspensions can be complex and costly. The disclosed device provides a shorter and more simplified design. More specifically, disclosed is a device for dewatering a pulp suspension, wherei n the suspension is dewatered between an upper belt and a lower belt, wherein a dewatering zone comprises a wedge-shaped zone formed by the upper belt and lower belt having an inlet end and an outlet end, and wherein a single, uppe r deflection roll and/or a single lower deflection roll are provided at the inlet end of the wedge-shaped zone.
