<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing device and data processing method capable of performing copy management without fail. <P>SOLUTION: Output systems are controlled so that digital data are outputted through only one specified output system out of the output systems in accordance with the contents of copy restriction based on management data. Therefore, the digital data are not outputted through a plurality of output systems only when there is copy restriction based on management data, the copy restriction can be applied, such that unlimited dubbing can be avoided in advance from being executed through a plurality of output systems.
