A portable computer and a control method thereof are provided to enable a user to manipulate only a desired portion, thereby increasing user's convenience. A portable computer comprises an input unit(40), a system unit(20), a locking option part(60) and a controller(70). The input unit comprises a plurality of input means, and the system unit operates correspondingly to an input of the input unit. The locking option part selects a locking level for gradually blocking the input from the input unit. The controller checks the locking level corresponding to an input means for input to the system unit, and sets the locking option part so as to block the input to the system unit correspondingly to the locking level.
