The device (1) has a projection lens (4) producing an image of an object (3) e.g. plant, in an image plane (5) using a measuring radiation, where a photo mixing detector (6) including multiple pixels is arranged in the image plane. The detector detects the measuring radiation impinging on the pixels, for a recording operation and determines a phase of the measuring radiation relative to an illuminating radiation. A displacement device (7) is provided, where the image and the detector are displaceable relative to each other in the image plane by the displacement device.
