The use of a medical therapeutic ozone agent in vivo to treat a variety of disorders including, but not limited to autoimmune disease, fibrotic disease, inflammatory disease, neurodegenerative disease, infectious disease, lung disease, heart and vascular disease, metabolic disease, cancer, wherein the therapeutic ozone agent is administered in a therapeutically effective amount, which can convert carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide, thereby treating or preventing the disease in a patient.

A method for treating or preventing a disease in a patient, wherein the disease is selected from the group consisting of autoimmune disease, fibrotic disease, inflammatory disease, neurodegenerative disease, infectious disease, lung disease, heart and vascular disease, metabolic disease, cancer, and combinations thereof, wherein said method comprises:
selecting a patient in need of treating or preventing said disease; administering to the patient at least one therapeutic ozone agent in a therapeutically effective amount, wherein the at least one therapeutic ozone agent is administered in a concentration to convert carbon monoxide bound to hemoglobin to carbon dioxide, thereby treating or preventing said disease in said patient.
