PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve display quality of moving images in a liquid crystal display device.SOLUTION: A display device is controlled to be turned on or off for each of pixels according to the video signal. For each of pixels in the display device, a display controls at least one of one end and the other end of a frame period of a video signal to be turned off within a first period shorter than a predetermined frame period, and stops light emission from a light source irradiating the display device with light within a second period including the first period.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
