PURPOSE: A program, a method, a device, and a recording medium for inputting characters on a browser of a client through a web page by using a server are provided to simultaneously process different code systems without distributing the program or the data in advance. CONSTITUTION: The server(12) is connected to clients(16-1¯16-5) through the Internet(14) and each client is equipped with browsers(18-1¯18-5) for accessing a web page of a business application provided from the server. The server is equipped with an input image processor(32), a Kana-Chinese converter(34), a font image generator(35), a compilation/output part(36), a character string conversion dictionary(38), and a font file(40). The input image processor is equipped with the web page(42) and a user interface engine(44), and transmits a character input web page and a character input program to the connected client. The Kana-Chinese converter is equipped with a Kana-Chinese converting function and a candidate listing function. The font image generator obtains/converts an outline font of a character code requested from the font file into an image file and transmits/displays the image file to the client.
