OPTICAL CONNECTOR FERRULE WITH ATTENUATING FILM

PURPOSE:To attain a required extent of attenuation without preparing a special attenuator or the like by attaching an attenuating film to the front end of a ferrule. CONSTITUTION:A clamping part 13 consisting of a small-diameter part is formed in the end part of a ferrule 12 having an optical fiber 11 in the center. A clamping part 14a consisting of the inside peripheral part of an annular member 14 whose outside diameter is smaller than that of the ferrule 12 is press-fitted to and detained by the clamping part 13. This annular member 14 consists of elastic materials like plastics, and an attenuating film 15 whose outside diameter is smaller than that of the annular member is stuck to the outside face of the annular member by adhesion or the like. Since the annular member 14 having the attenuating film 15 is set to the front end of the ferrule 12 in this manner, an optical signal is attenuated without a special attenuator and the annular member 14 having a required extent of attenuation is attached to the ferrule by replacement to attenuate the optical signal by a required extent.
