<p>PURPOSE: To efficiently cut or separate a workpiece having a flat or curved surface. CONSTITUTION: A jet-like fluid cutting medium (e.g. a water jet) 9 is used. The cutting medium is ejected at high pressure from a nozzle and directed toward a workpiece 1. The cutting medium 9 is directed to the surface of the workpiece, not in a strictly perpendicular manner, but with angular deviation of 0.1-0.3 deg. in order to obtain a correctly cut edge part even in a case where the high cutting speed is selected. A device to achieve the cutting operation is provided with a tube having the nozzle from which the cutting medium is ejected on its end part. The nozzle is swivelably supported, and the tube is supported by a fitting plate adjustable in X and Y directions so as to control the desired cutting angle.</p> |
