PURPOSE:To make it possible to utilize as a correct running information by reading the bar code installed on a road surface by the optical sensor on the side of a traveling object and analyzing the present location and traveling direction of the traveling object from the bar code information with an arithmetic unit. CONSTITUTION:In a land beacon device mounted on the side of an automobile 3 as a traveling object reading a bar code 1 installed on a road surface 2, an optical sensor 4 optically detects the bar code 1, and a CPU 5 analyzes the detected bar code information and operates the present location and traveling direction of the automobile 3. A memory 6 stores the latitude, longitude of each point, the definition table of the traveling direction and other necessary informations on the data of the bar code 1. In the land beacon device of the side of the automobile 3, the bar code 1 on the road surface 2 is detected by the optical sensor 4, and the CPU 5 compares the bar code information from this optical sensor 4 with the definition table of the memory 6 and analyzes the latitude, longitude information on the present location and the traveling direction information on the automobile 3. |
