PURPOSE:To improve the recognizing ability for a word having the same vowel series as to the speech recognizing device which employs a temperature matching method. CONSTITUTION:This device is equipped with a speech analytic part 11, a pitch detection part 12, a vowel pattern compression part 13, a standard pattern memory 14, and a pattern comparison part 15, and the vowel part of an inputted speech is detected; while the pattern of the vowel part is left only by a previously set pitch quantity, the remainder is deleted to obtain a compressed feature vector series. which is used for pattern comparison to lower the degree of contribution of the vowel part at an inter-pattern distance and increase the degree of contribution of a consonant part, thereby improving the recognizing ability for the word having the same vowel series. |
