PURPOSE: To provide a rotary disk type thickener capable of increasing treatment quantity of sewage and wastewater while reducing an installation area by reducing dewatering time and power consumption since sewage and wastewater flown in dewaterer have low water content, and a sludge thickening system using the same. CONSTITUTION: In a sludge thickener for purifying sewage and wastewater, the rotary disk type thickener (40) comprises an inner case (410) for flowing sewage and wastewater in a direction; rotary disks that are filters respectively installed at both sides of the inner case to dewater sewage and wastewater; and an outer case (430) into which a rotary shaft (450) for driving the rotary disks are penetrated, which discharges the collected separation water to the outside by collecting water separated by the rotary disks, and to an upper part of which a cover (411) is connected, wherein a gas vent (412) is formed on the cover.
