SILICON NITRIDE-BASED CERAMIC AND METHOD FOR FORMING SAME

摘要

PURPOSE: To form a silicon nitride-sialon sintered compact in the separate state without producing a composite material by utilizing superplasticity. CONSTITUTION: A silicon nitride-sialon sintered compact having >=95% relative density and contg. grains 1 at a linear density of 120-250 to a segment A of 50μm length in a section is formed by plastic deformation at <=10<-1> sec rate of strain and 1,300-1,700 deg.C under tensile or compressive pressure. By this forming, 5-80% degree of orientation and a linear density of 80-200 are attained and the sintered compact has superior mechanical characteristics especially at ordinary temp.
