The tool holder has a tension chuck for holding a tension gripper (22) for tensioning the tool (12). The tension gripper has a thermally expanding shrink section (32) for tensioning the tool in a shrink fit seat. An insert section (34) at the outer end of the shrink section is measured in diameter so that in the cold state of the shrink section the tool can be inserted with its shaft (13) into the insert section and centred. The insert section passes through a conical area (36) into the remaining area of the shrink section.
