PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the discharge characteristic of an air battery so as to provide a positive electrode body having a small environmental load in a manufacturing process by coating the surface of the positive electrode with a liquid surface active material made of a mixture of water, polyvinyl alcohol and activated carbon, then drying it. SOLUTION: The molecular weight of polyvinyl alcohol to be used is 400 to 600, and its added quantity against water is 10 to 40 ppm. The mixing quantity of activated carbon powders against water is preferably 17.5 to 22.5% by weight. A positive electrode body 1 is placed on a turntable 2, an activated carbon powder sticking preventive cover 3 is put over the positive electrode body 1, then compressed air is supplied to a container 6 from a compressed air supply pipe 5 connected to a spray gun 4 while rotating the turntable 2 by hand and then activating agents are sprayed to the reaction surface of the positive electrode body 1 from a nozzle of a tip of the spray gun 4. Mist and dust generated by the spraying are discharged by a drafter 7. |
