A novel cyclotrisiloxane having the following general formula (1) and a novel copolymer synthesized using the cyclotrisiloxane are provided. The copolymer is excellent in low-temperature characteristics, heat resistance, temperature-viscosity characteristics, and compatibility with various fluids and is particularly useful as a starting material for use in cosmetics and greases. <IMAGE> (1) wherein R2 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an aralkyl group, a halogenated alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an acryloyloxypropyl group or a methacryloyloxypropyl group, and R3 is a methyl group or a phenyl group.
