The actuator has an electromagnet and a movable magnetic chuck (306) in contact with the electromagnet. A stopper (B300) is situated on the electromagnet or on the chuck to limit contact surface between the chuck and the electromagnet. The stopper is situated at the center of the electromagnet surface. The stopper is situated on an axis collinear with an axis of translation of the chuck. An Independent claim is also included for an internal combustion engine.
