POROUS SOLID PHOSPHORIC ACID CATALYST SYSTEM AND METHOD OF THE HYDROCARBON CONVERSION USING SAID CATALYST

A porous solid phosphoric acid catalyst containing phosphoric acid and an inorganic oxide binder, whilst no more than 17.5 percent of the catalyst composite extrudate pore volume consists of pores having diameters of 1000 nm or larger and the total catalyst composite extrudate pore volume is about 0.28 ml/g or less. The binder material is preferably an inorganic oxide material and most preferably a siliceous material such as diatomaceous earth, kieselguhr, or artificially prepared silicas or mixtures thereof. There is further disclosed a method of the hydrocarbon conversion processed by contacting thereof with a solid phosphoric acid catalyst with the proviso that said porous solid phosphoric acid catalyst is used as the solid phosphoric acid catalyst. The hydrocarbon conversion includes alkylation of an aromatic hydrocarbon with an olefin-acting agent, and, catalytic condensation of olefinic hydrocarbon-containing material to an oligomeric product.
