<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external keyboard for a mobile phone for eliminating the need for provision of an LED so as to reduce the power consumption with a small-sized battery resulting in attaining a compact structure. <P>SOLUTION: A control program 21 stored in a ROM 20 of a microcomputer 17 allows the external keyboard to have a character entry mode independently of a character entry mode of the mobile phone 11 and includes a character entry control module 22 and a call mode control module 23. The character entry control module 22 acts like a program for controlling the selection of the character entry mode in response to a character entry mode switching signal, the transmission of a key code of a dummy character in the switched character entry mode to a control section 11a of the mobile phone 11 to switch the character entry mode of the mobile phone 11, and then the transmission of a key code to delete the dummy character thereby synchronizing the entry mode display of the mobile phone with the entry mode of the externally mounted keyboard. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
