PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a shadow mask material suited to the flattening of screen by proposing a means of attaining the increase in strength and decrease in thermal expansion of an Fe-Ni shadow mask material due to refined grains. SOLUTION: The shadow mask material is manufactured by performing warm rolling at 400-700 deg.C, laminating two or more of the resultant sheet stock, performing warm rolling again at 400-700 deg.C, and applying cold rolling and annealing to the resultant hoop to form a sheet. At the preparation of the sheet stock, a stock prepared by applying hot rolling, e.g. at >=800 deg.C to an ingot or continuously cast slab or a strip cast material can be used. Moreover, by using the shadow mask material composed of an Fe-Ni alloy of 32.0-40.0 wt.% Ni content and having <=10μm average grain size, the sheet can be improved in handling property and is advantageous to the application to a flat tension shadow mask in particular.
