PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an electromagnetic brake releasing device for an elevator winder compact. SOLUTION: A control wire 3 connected to a brake lever of an electromagnetic brake is connected to one end of an arm 43 rotated about a supporting axis (fulcrum) 41b of a frame 41 and a recess 43a is formed at the other end of the arm 43. In releasing the electromagnetic brake 1, a rod gripping member 44 with the end inserted into the recess 43a of the arm 43 is rotationally moved to an arrow mark Y and a control wire 3 is pulled in accordance with the principle of a lever. Since the gripping member 44 protruded from the frame 41 is detachable, the whole is shaped smaller to be employed for an elevator with no machine room in which a storage space is extremely limited.
