PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system of measuring the temp. of a liquid crystal with high visibility at a low cost without decreasing visibility or brightness or without using an expensive temp. measurement element for a large screen liquid crystal panel. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal panel 21 has transparent electrodes 14 and a liquid crystal 15 between substrates 12. A polarizing plate 11, light conducting plate 16, back light 17 and heater 20 are disposed on the back surface of the substrate 12, and a photodetector 19 is disposed on the edge of the polarizing plate 11. The display response time of the liquid crystal panel 21 is measured, and the temp. of the liquid crystal is calculated from this response time. |
