摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent light emitting device which dispenses with an independently controllable control electrode and a negative voltage power source for the control electrode. SOLUTION: Two anode arrays 7, 8 each consisting of a plurality of anode dots 6 are provided on an anode substrate 2 of a device. Adjacent two anode dots 6, 6 in the anode arrays 7, 8 are commonly connected to an IC. Two cathodes 12, 13 are provided on the anode arrays 7, 8. An intercept electrode 20 is provided between the anode arrays 7, 8. A voltage for the cathodes 12, 13 is switched between 0 V or 40 V. A zero or positive voltage is applied to the intercept electrode 20. A positive voltage is applied to a plane control electrode 11. When the voltage of 0 V is applied to the cathode 12 at the let side of the intercept electrode 20, both of the potential differences between the cathode 12 and anode array 7 and between the cathode 12 and plane control electrode 11 become 40 V so that an electon generated from the cathode 12 reaches the anode dot 6. The cathode 13 placed at the right side of the intercept electrode 20 is set to 40 V and both of the potential differences between the cathode 13 and anode array 8 and between the cathode 14 and plane control electrode 11 become 0 V so that an electron is not generated because there is not potential difference.</p>
