PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly cut both ends without slipping by guiding a vegetable or a fruit while sufficiently holding the vegetable or the fruit. SOLUTION: This apparatus for cutting the vegetable or the fruit 27 is capable of making a driven piece 51 of a receiving tool 3 ride up on the top surface of a guide board 56 for the driven piece 51 and guiding the driven piece 51 when the receiving tool 3 attached to a belt conveyor 2 passes through a guiding and cutting device 4, horizontally rotating the driven piece 51, rotating a supporting shaft 49 and a holding piece 52 in the counterclockwide direction against the elastic force of an extension spring 55 and cutting both the left and the right ends of the vegetable or fruit 27 with a pair of left and right blades 43 while firmly holding the vegetable or fruit 27.
