The invention relates to a device for drawing a web of material into a machine. Said device comprises a draw-in means, which can be advanced along a draw-in path and to which the web of material can be coupled. The draw-in means can be driven by means of an electric motor that can be regulated or controlled according to measurement data, which is determined during the draw-in process, or in a manner that is synchronous to another unit of the machine that can be mechanically driven independent of the electric motor.
