PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform friction stir welding of the abutted end faces of cylindrical bodies forming a wheel rim or the like. SOLUTION: After a cylindrical body W2 having a first projecting part 12 and a second projecting part 14 is formed, the cylindrical body W2 is placed on a supporting core 32. Next, a piston rod 50 of a displacement cylinder 48 is energized to displace a first supporting natural lock cylinder 26 and a second supporting natural lock cylinder 28 to a position below a supporting body 30. Supporting rods 58 and 60 are elevated and the supporting core 32 is supported by the supporting rods 58 and 60 via the supporting body 30. In addition, a cam 74 is advanced together with a piston rod 72 of an inner circumferential wall pressing cylinder 70, and a pressing member 86 is advanced toward an inner circumferential wall surface side of the cylindrical body W2 under the action of the cam 74.
