<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical network system capable of flexibly coping with a change in operation environment with economy through avoidance of adoption of time division multiplex technology. <P>SOLUTION: An OLT 8 and ONUs 12-1, 12-2 to 12-n being optical transmitters and receivers are provided with optical transmitters 21-1, 21-2 to 21-n, 16-1, 16-2 to 16-n each having a function of setting a transmission wavelength and capable of transmitting an optical signal with a plurality of wavelengths different from each other. A WDM filter 18 multiplexes optical signals with downlink wavelengths λ1, λ2 to λn outputted from the optical transmitters 21-1, 21-2 to 21-n, a power demultiplex coupler 10 demultiplexes the multiplexed optical signal into n branches, and the ONUs 12-1, 12-2 to 12-n receive the optical signals with all the wavelengths. Wavelength variable filters 15-1, 15-2 to 15-n segment the wavelengths λ1, λ2 to λn distributed to the ONUs 12-1, 12-2 to 12-n, and each of light receiving elements 14-1, 14-2 to 14-n receives only a desired wavelength. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
