The particular transmission unit can be used in order to perform its ordinary functions as well as for some additional tasks demanding more power or creating more stress on the components. A basic level of capacity is determined by using the data related to the ordinary functions obtained so far in a first step. The conditions required from the system when one or more of the additional tasks are to be performed are determined in a second step. The related function is then enabled, completely blocked, or made partly usable, depending on the results.
