Highly comfortable oxygen permeable and hydrophilic contact lenses are manufactured from a copolymer of an ethylenically unsaturated novel monomers Bis(perfluoroalkylsulfonyl)- amidoethyl methacrylate, Bis(alkylsulfonyl)amidoethyl methacrylate, (N- alkylsulfonyl-N'- perfluoroalkylsulfonyl)amidoethyl methacrylate and organosilicone ester monomers of acrylic and methacrylic acid and ethylenically unsaturated ester monomers of methacrylic acid having alkyl hydroxy groups, N-vinyl 2-pyrolidinone, dimethylacrylamide, methacryli c acid and methods for the manufacturing thereof.
