<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the probability of detecting the presence or absence of a falsification in an electronic file with an electronic signature. <P>SOLUTION: A printer 100 includes: a public key storage section 118 that stores a public key; a data read-out section 104 where electronic file is read from a recording medium 300; a public key detector 108 for detecting whether or not the public key necessary to verify the electronic signature attached to the electronic file is stored in the public key storage section 118, and for detecting whether or not the public key is stored in the recording medium 300 when not stored; a falsification detector 106 for verifying the electronic signature by the public key that the public key detector 108 detects, and for detecting the presence or absence of the falsification in the electronic file; and a print processor 116 for printing the electronic file.
