[PROBLEMS] To detect mRNA for TERT gene that is a tumor-specific gene with high sensitivity, and to diagnose a tumor by using the mRNA. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] Disclosed are: an amplification/detection method for mRNA for TERT gene, which is characterized by heating at a high temperature prior to reverse transcription; the diagnosis of a tumor by using the method; a primer set suitable for the amplification/detection method for mRNA for TERT gene; and a diagnosis kit using the primer set.
