PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tibial prosthesis that facilitates retention of cruciate ligaments.SOLUTION: The invention provides an improved tibial base member (e.g., 10) comprising keel portions (e.g., 14a, 14b, 14c) that allow cruciate ligaments to be preserved. The invention also provides improved lateral and/or medial inserts having a mesial lip that helps relieve and/or prevent impingement between a femoral component and a tibial eminence. The invention also provides improved femoral components having various chamfers to provide additional clearance with respect to the tibial eminence and posterior cruciate ligament without decreasing bone coverage.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
