Provided are body-wearable measurement device capable of measuring a predetermined action with good precision, a meal assistance device which uses the body-wearable measurement device, a meal assistance system, a computer program, a measurement method, and a meal assistance method. The body-wearable measurement device is provided with a conversion unit for converting a variation in the distance between a living body and a predetermined site into an electrical signal at a predetermined sampling cycle, a peak detection unit for detecting a peak in the variation on the basis of the electrical signal converted by the conversion unit, and a measurement unit for measuring the number of instances or the time taken for a predetermined action on the basis of the peak detected by the peak detection unit. The conversion unit may use a distance measurement sensor, for example, and be configured so that light is emitted from a light emitting unit, reflected light reflected by the predetermined site is detected by a light receiving unit, the distance to the predetermined site is detected, and an electrical signal (voltage or electric current) corresponding to the detected distance is converted at a predetermined sampling cycle.
