The invention relates to a dual clutch transmission for a motor vehicle, comprising gear sets which can be shifted by shift elements and which in particular form precisely eight gear stages (RE-1 to RE-8) belonging to a first and a second sub-transmission (A, B) respectively, each sub-transmission (A, B) having an input shaft (22, 23) and the two sub-transmissions (A, B) having a common output shaft (24), wherein the coaxial input shafts (22, 23) can be activated in alternation via respective powershiftable clutches (K1, K2), and wherein the even forward gears and the odd forward gears, which during a gearshift can be shifted by shift elements (SE-A to SE-G), belong to the first sub-transmission (A) and the second sub-transmission (B) respectively, wherein each gear stage (RE-1 to RE-8), as a forward gear, provides a direct gear (3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 11th gear), in which when a sub-transmission (A, B) is activated precisely one gear stage is coupled into the torque flow passing through the activated sub-transmission (A, B). According to the invention the gear stages (RE-1 to RE-8) also provide at least one twist gear as a forward gear, more particularly up to four twist gears (1st, 2nd, 9th, 10th, 12th gear), in each of which precisely three gear stages combined in series are coupled to the torque flow by the shift elements (SE-A to SE-G). |
