The vacuum cleaner has a barrel mounted on a wheeled base, with a metal hoop forming the guide handle. The handle ends are linked at the bottom by a tie plate which carries the larger diameter wheels which form the trolley wheels. Small castors support the front of the base. The tie plate and the base unit are detachably linked on the the other by a 'U' shaped stirrup, and the barrel is detachably fixed to the guide handle, so that the barrel can be supported either by the wheeled base or by the guide handle.
