PURPOSE:To make it possible to separate a printing head from a platen by attaching one of paired guide members which supports a carrier with a mounted printing head in a freely movable manner, to a closing member mounted on a printer case. CONSTITUTION:A carrier 58 with a mounted printing head 44 is supported in a freely movable manner by paired guide shafts 64,66 which extends in parallel with a platen 42 at the upper and lower ends of the carrier 58. The guide shaft 66 is firmly held to a frame 46, running through a through hole 62 at the bottom of the carrier 58. On the other hand, the guide shaft 64 is engaged in a freely slidable manner with a U-shaped engagement groove 60 at the top of the carrier 58 and then is attached to the rear of a printer cover 34 as a closing member. In addition, a U-positioning groove 68 is formed on the frame 46, and the guide shaft 64 is allowed to engage with the groove 68 when the printer cover 34 is closed to ensure accurate positioning. If the printer cover 34 is opened, the guide shaft 64 becomes detached from a carrier engagement groove 60 and a frame 46 positioning groove 68. Then the carrier 58 rotates freely around the guide shaft 66 at the bottom and separates the printing head from the platen. |
