PURPOSE:To safely control an engine in spite of disturbance by providing a control means which controls at least one of an air-fuel ratio and an ignition timing within a control limitation so that an average value of an average effective pressure may become a maximum value in a specified operation condition judged by an operation condition judging means. CONSTITUTION:An average effective pressure is calculated by a shown average effective pressure detection means 28 from pressure in a cylinder and a crank angle detected by sensors 25, 26. The calculated average effective pressure is inputted to an average effective pressure means 29 so that the average value is calculated. In an operation condition according to load of an engine 23, in order to make the average value maximum by a control means 31, at least one of an air-fuel ratio and an ignition timing is controlled so that it may not exceed a limit value of a control quantity stored in a limit value memory means 35. In the case the control quantity of the air-fuel ratio or the ignition timing is at the limit value or more, the following control quantity is read from a control quantity memory means 34 in a control means 31 so as to control it in the control limitation. |
