PURPOSE:To obtain an image receiving sheet for thermal transfer recording not fused at the time of the formation of an image and excellent in image preservability by providing a cured resin layer between an image receiving layer and a support. CONSTITUTION:An ink sheet for thermal transfer recording wherein an ink layer containing at least a dye having a phenolic hydroxyl group and/or a dye salt consisting of at least a dye and a nitrogen-containing org. base is provided on a support is superposed on an image receiving sheet for thermal transfer recording containing at least a basic compd. and/or a mordant in its image receiving layer so that the ink layer of the ink sheet is opposed to the image receiving layer of the image receiving sheet and both sheets are heated corresponding to image data to form the dye image corresponding to the image data on the image receiving layer. In this case, when a cured resin layer is provided between the image receiving layer and the support, the image receiving sheet for thermal transfer recording not fused at the time of the formation of an image and excellent in image preservability can be obtained.
