A packaging blank 1 in the form of a pulp material shell, for supporting a free end portion of an article which is packaged in a dispatch container such as a corrugated cardboard box, has a support surface 3 which projects upwards from a base surface 2 and which bears against the end surface of the packaged article, and a number of projections 4, 5 protruding above the level of this support surface 3 and bearing against the side and end walls of the end portion of the packaged article. The support surface 3 is plane, and the corresponding recess in the back of the packaging blank 1 is intended to be able to receive accessory parts such as an electric cable, tool, operating equipment, etc., for the packaged article. When this article has been packaged in a dispatch package, this recess is closed off by the end wall of this package. <IMAGE>
