The invention relates to a method for regulating a pressure control valve, wherein the value of the manipulated variable used to control the pressure control valve is determined from a pre-control value and the intervention of a controller, depending upon the actual value and the setpoint value of the controlled variable. The intervention of the controller is confined to a limiting value which is preferably dependent upon the pre-control value when the control value is modified.
