The patient monitoring system includes a network (2), e.g. a LAN, for transmitting physiological data acquired by a number of monitoring devices (4, 6, ...) to a central workstation (8). The monitoring devices, which may be conventional bedside monitors or telemetry monitors, include a number of physiological signal sensors (10). The workstation includes an interface (12) for receiving the physiological data, a CPU (14) with a memory (16) for processing the physiological signals, and a display. The signals can be processed and displayed with a variable amount of delay, the delay time being indicated on the display. Pref. a physiological data packet which has been lost due to noise or interference can be requested for retransmission, the retransmitted data packet being used to update the display. |
