The arrangement includes an electronic coin tester with several switchable test channels, which are activated by a control unit. Individual coin containers with pay-out arrangements are arranged underneath the coin tester. The coin containers (2) operate a sensor at their insertion, which is connected with the control unit (5). The control unit activates test channels in the electronic coin tester (1) in dependence on the inserted coin containers. The method involves determining combinations of building units in a coin-operated machine, which lead to malfunctions, whereby the coin-operated machine includes an electronic coin tester with several switchable test channels, which are activated by a control unit including a microprocessor. Individual coin containers with pay-out arrangements, and a cash register container are arranged underneath the coin tester. The coin containers (2) operate a sensor at their insertion into the coin unit (6), which is connected with the control unit (5). The control unit activates test channels in the electronic coin tester (1) in dependence on the inserted coin containers.
