PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reversible heat-sensitive recording medium having favorable contrast, high durability, a wide range of erasing energy and no change with time thereof, and the manufacture of such a recording medium. SOLUTION: A reversible heat-sensitive recording layer 14 is formed by applying a coating material which is obtained by mixing a dye with a color developing/ subtracting agent, melting this mixture under heating, finely crushing it after cooling, and dispersing the crushed materials into a water-base thermoplastic resin, onto a base material 12, or applying a coating material which is obtained by dispersing the dye and the color developing/subtructing agent into a water-base radiation cure type resin as they are, onto the base material 12, and, thereafter, by curing the resin in the coating material by the irradiation of radiant rays. Since a high temperature is not applied in the case of curing the water-base radiation cure type resin, the color developing/subtructing agent is not decomposed to develop colors and neither becomes a color forming function ineffective. Therefore, the occurrence of the fogging of ground and the lowering of printing density are prevented, so that favorable contrast is obtained and the reversible heat-sensitive recording layer also has high durability. A range of erasing energy for printing is wide and has no change with time. |
