FIELD: transport engineering; automobiles. SUBSTANCE: proposed set has internal combustion engine and hydrodynamic retarder including stator, rotor and housing. Engine cooling system is furnished with fan. Retarder is made for circulation of cooling liquid both under brake applied and brake releases conditions (so-called water pump retarder brake). Housing of retarder consists of part (valve) enclosing the rotor and part (cover) enclosing the stator. Hollow cover has three connecting unions for cooling and working fluid namely, two inlet unions and one outlet union. Moreover, cover is connected with working space of retarder by through channels. EFFECT: reduced axial dimensions and weight of drive set. 7 cl, 9 dwg
