<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus in which a space inside the image forming apparatus is efficiently utilized to downsize the apparatus by providing a waste toner recovery container in the surplus space generated in the image forming apparatus, and the maintainability is not impaired due to the installation of the waste toner recovery container. <P>SOLUTION: In the color image forming apparatus, toner images formed by plural image forming engines are primarily transferred to an intermediate transfer belt in multiplex, thereafter, the multiplex transferred toner image is secondarily transferred from the intermediate transfer belt to a recording sheet, besides, the recording sheet with the transferred toner image is carried to a fixing unit by a sheet carrying belt. In the apparatus, the waste toner recovery container for recovering the waste toner discharged from cleaners for the image forming engines and the intermediate transfer belt and for storing the toner altogether is provided to be housed in a triangular space formed by the intermediate transfer belt and the sheet carrying means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
